Bob Mervak has been an active member of the Detroit music community since 1997, and has worked with many of the musicians who embody its collective talent. He has worked with pianists Matt Michaels and Gary Schunk, bassist Paul Keller (Diana Krall), bluesman Johnnie Bassett, Colton Weatherston, Chuck Brodsky, Grammy award-winner Tim Marks, Beth Stalker, Ben Sharkey, Liz Larin, Patrick Simmons (Doobie Bros.), and a host of others. He performs in various settings, has toured extensively, and is equally capable on stage and in the studio. He has led and developed the Bob Mervak Trio for 11 years and recently enjoyed working as a sideman for Brett Lucas and Thornetta Davis. Bob has been creative and artistic director of the St. Columban Concert Series in Birmingham, which showcases the finest talent in Detroit and beyond. This past year he was featured as a pianist/vocalist in the Film "Ides of March" from actor/director George Clooney, in which he worked alongside Marissa Tomei, Ryan Gosling, and Phyllip Seymour Hoffman. October of 2011 brought about the release of two important recordings: "Bob Mervak," Bob's self-titled EP of original music, and "Bob and Iz," a collection of hand-picked treasures from the American Songbook, and collaborations with vocalist Isabel Nelson. Most recently Bob has managed to break into the film scoring community, as he landed the position of composer for the 2012 film "Hit And Run," by director Dax Shepard, featuring Bradley Cooper, Kristen Bell, Tom Arnold, and others. Bob hopes one day to not be a loser.
